PK 32: Biotech and Drought Tolerance

Adverse environmental factors, of which water scarcity represents the most severe constraint to agriculture, accounts for about 70 percent of potential yield loses worldwide. The development of crop varieties with increased tolerance to drought is thus an important strategy to meet global food demands with less water. "Biotechnology for the development of drought tolerant crops" is the latest topic of Pocket K 32. Pocket Ks are Pockets of Knowledge, packaged information on crop biotechnology products and related issues. They are produced by the Global Knowledge Center on Crop Biotechnology of the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications.
