Opposition to GMO Labeling Rises Up in Washington
October 23, 2013 |
A survey was conducted by Elway Poll regarding the Washington State's consumers point of view about Initiative 522 (I-522) which requires labelling of genetically modified agricultural products . The interview was conducted from 15-17 October 2013 involving 413 registered voters from the state. Results of the survey showed that support for I-522 decreased by 20 percent and opposition has increased by 21 percent, compared with the results of another survey conducted in September. Elway reports I-522 proponents are clinging to a narrow 46-to-42 percent lead, with 12 percent of the voters still undecided. If the initiative gets enough votes in the general election ballot on 5 November 2013, it will be implemented on 1 July 2015.
