Scientists to Improve Water Use Efficiency and Photosynthesis in Corn

March 13, 2013

A license collaboration between seed developer DuPont Pioneer and the California-based plant science company Mendel Biotechnology, Inc. will pave way to the commercialization of a new corn variety with increased water use efficiency (WUE) and improved photosynthesis. Under the agreement, DuPont Pioneer and Mendel will evaluate selected gene leads of corn and will test them for yield-enhancement traits. These gene leads were identified by Mendel in its next-generation plant physiology platform.
