Plant Sciences Federation to Tackle Global Challenges

December 2, 2011

The Society of Biology has set up the UK Plant Sciences Federation (UKPSF) to allow an inclusive and comprehensive dialogue across the plant and crop science community. It will assume a major role in addressing global issues such as food security and climate change in an environmentally sustainable manner.

UKPSF is committed to integrate research and development efforts through stronger engagement within and beyond the plant science community. Basic research, applied research, outreach, industry and education will be harnessed using a unique new structure.

Dr. Mark Downs, CEO of the Society of Biology said, "Plant biology is critical to all our futures. It is essential that politicians, funders and the media recognize its enormous potential in addressing major national and global challenges".
