U.S. EPA Releases Temporary Exemption for Bt eCry3.1Ab

June 18, 2010

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency has issued in June 16, 2010 a temporary exemption from the requirement of a tolerance to eCry3.1Ab protein in corn, in or on the food and feed commodities of corn, corn field, sweet corn and pop corn, when used as a plant-incorporated protectant. This regulation eliminates the need to establish a maximum permissible level for residues of the protein in corn under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act (FFDCA).

The temporary tolerance exemption expires on June 1, 2012 and objections and requests for hearings must be received on or before August 16, 2010.
