MoU to Strengthen Biotech Awareness in Africa Signed

March 27, 2009

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) has been signed between the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) and the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) AfriCenter  to strengthen biotechnology and biosafety awareness creation and knowledge-sharing in Africa through the Open Forum on Agricultural Biotechnology (OFAB).

OFAB is a monthly platform that brings together biotech stakeholders to share experiences and information on the status, trends and impacts of biotechnology on the continent. Public acceptance is essential for successful application of modern agricultural biotechnology to improve food production in Africa. The MoU was signed by the AATF's new Executive Director Daniel Mataruka and Director of ISAAA AfriCenter, Dr Margaret Karembu, in Nairobi, Kenya.
