Bangladesh Finalizes National Biotech Policy Action Plan

Bangladesh is finalizing all the enabling regulatory documents for biotechnological research, development and handling said Bangladesh State Minister for Science and Information and Communication Technology Yafes Osman during a seminar at the Bangladesh Atomic Energy Commission on June 29, 2011. It was organized by the National Institute of Biotechnology for the National Executive Committee on Biotechnology (NECB) under the Chairmanship of the Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister.
The State Minister led the finalization of the National Biotechnology Policy Action Plan during the seminar. He stressed government support for the teaching, research and related activities on biotechnology. "Develop biotech crops and products to address the country's requirements for food, feed, fiber, and medicine," he told over 100 participants of the seminar.
