Revitalization of the Groundnut Sector in West Africa

A USDA FAS-GAIN report on a workshop entitled The Revitalization of the Groundnut Sector in Gambia, Guinea Bissau and Senegal held in Gambia on November 9 – 10, 2010 was recently published. The six-page Report highlights the importance of groundnuts or peanuts in the three countries as it contribute to food security, poverty reduction, livestock feeding, export earnings and national trade development. Strategies were also set to address problems facing the groundnut farming sectors including farmers, industries and researchers to improve quality and productivity, and to aim for export marketing in the future.
