IL Crop Accepts Increased Biotech Stewardship Responsibilities
June 11, 2009 |
The Illinois Crop Improvement Association, Inc. (IL Crop) has recently been granted a membership status to the ETS program. Excellence Through StewardshipSM (ETS) is the first industry-coordinated initiative to provide stewardship and quality management programs for the full product life of biotech plants. It is founded by 31 companies including technology developers and seed companies that license new traits and have very targeted biotech research activities. The program is intended to promote the responsible use of agricultural biotechnology, the continued global adoption of plant biotechnology, and the enhanced value of biotech-derived plant products in the marketplace.
According to John McKinney, IL Crop has the facilities to conduct bioassay/immunoassay, seed and bioprocessing activities in its three laboratories in Illinois.
