UNCTAD to Support Technology and Knowledge Transfer of African Scientists

October 10, 2008

The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD)’s Network of Centres of Excellence will promote technology and knowledge transfer to Africa through the creation of links within the scientific community and increasing scientists’ mobility of scientists. The network plans to extend its activities to enhance policymaking capacities in science, technology and innovation for development.

The centers will be used as regional hubs of learning and training to facilitate interaction among members of the network and training participants. The network will broaden its scope to include non-Anglophone scientists and engineers so that they can also benefit from current knowledge on science and technology.
