February 29, 2008 |
The Taiwan-based World Vegetable Center announced the appointment of Dr. Dyno Keatinge as the organization’s new director general effective April 2008. Keatinge has worked with various international agricultural research and development organizations such as the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas (ICARDA) in Syria and the International Institute of Tropical Agriculture (IITA) in Nigeria. Since 2002 he was deputy director general for research at the International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) in India.
“There’s an exciting future ahead for the World Vegetable Center,” Dr. Keatinge said. “The Center is poised to make a significant contribution to the Millennium Development Goals over the next decade. Its efforts will be felt by the poor in farming communities throughout sub-Saharan Africa and in other parts of the developing world.”
