Webinar Series on Biotech Innovations for a Sustainable Agriculture

ISAAA Inc., in partnership with the Department of Agriculture Biotechnology Program Office (DA-BPO), Biotechnology Coalition of the Philippines, Inc. (BCP), Bureau of Animal Industry, and Corteva Agriscience, will hold a webinar series on Biotech Innovations for A Sustainable Agriculture from November 8 to 10, 2023, at 8:45 AM (GMT+8). The registration is now open to all interested participants.

The discussions will include:

  • New Breeding Innovations in Crops: the technologies, application in mitigating pesticide use, and regulations;
  • Biotechnology Applications and Regulation in Animals; and
  • Bio-innovation: Potential and challenges, the concept of social license and path to commercialization.

This webinar series is a build-up activity for the 19th National Biotech Week with the theme “Empowering Innovation for Sustainable Future with Biotechnology.” It aims to promote biotech innovations and their potential to help build a sustainable food system and to delve into key aspects to consider in ensuring sustainability.

The first day of the webinar will feature Dr. Reynante L. Ordonio, Senior Science Research Specialist at the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice); Dr. Gabriel O. Romero, Executive Director of the Philippine Seed Industry Association (PSIA); and Ms. Geronima P. Eusebio, OIC – Head of Bureau of Plant Industry Biotechnology Core Team. On November 9, the webinar will feature Dr. Marvin A. Villanueva, Center Chief of DA Livestock Biotechnology Center; Dr. Casiano H. Choresca, Jr., Center Chief of DA Fisheries Biotechnology Center; and Dr. Claro N. Mingala, Director of DA Biotech Program Office. The last day of the webinar will feature Dr. Paul S. Teng, Dean and Managing Director of the National Institute of Education International (NIEI); Dr. Wayne Parrot, Research Professor at the University of Georgia; and Dr. Ronan G. Zagado, Chief Science Research Specialist and Lead of Malusog Rice Program at PhilRice.
