
ISAAA Report on GM Crops Presented in Bangladesh

The Vice Chancellor of Bangladesh Agricultural University, Professor Dr. M. Rafiqul Hoque inaugurated the seminar the ISAAA Global Status on Commercialization of Biotech/GM Crops on 25 March 2013. He stressed the importance of the publication for all biotech stakeholders especially the scientists.
Prof Dr K M Nasiruddin, ISAAA National Coordinator in Bangladesh presented the highlight of the publication. The Country Coordinator of South Asia Biosafety Program (SABP) Prof Dr Md Imdadul Hoque, Dean, Faculty of Biological Sciences, University of Dhaka explained the enabling regulatory measures for biotechnology. Dr G P Das, Country Coordinator of the AgriculturalBiotechnology Support Project II (ABSPII) also delivered a talk on biotechnology capacity building and the field trial results and progress of Bt brinjal, RBPotato, and Golden Rice in confined field.
Bangladesh Biotechnology Information Centre (BdBIC) of ISAAA in collaboration with Bangladesh Association for Biotechnology & Genetic Engineering (BABGE) organized the seminar attended by 100 participants.
