Agrisure Viptera 3220 E-Z Refuge Trait Stack Approved for Cultivation in Canada

August 24, 2012

Syngenta's Agrisure Viptera™ 3220 E-Z Refuge™ trait stack which contains dual modes of action for control of multiple lepidopteran pests and corn borer has been given a Canadian Food Inspection Agency approval to be cultivated in the country. Each bag of the product contains 95 percent of the hybrid corn containing the GM trait and the remaining 5 percent does not contain the trait.

The approval was based on the result of the field trials conducted in 2010 and 2011 which demonstrated that the stack traits can effectively control corn earworm. The hybrid will be available in limited quantities for the 2013 growing season.
