Biotech crops are the fastest adopted crop technology in the history of modern agriculture. Biotech crops have been in the market since 1996 and in 2019, more countries adopted the technology because of their contributions to food security, sustainability, and climate change mitigation.
The International Service for the Acquisition of Agribiotech Applications (ISAAA) will present the latest report on the global status of GM crops in 2019 during a webinar on November 30, 2020, at 4 PM (GMT+3) via Zoom.
The webinar will cover the highlights of the ISAAA report including the following:
- global area of biotech crops from 1996 to 2019;
- global adoption rates of principal crops;
- biotech adopting countries; and
- trends in approvals of GM events.
The global report will be presented by Dr. Paul Teng, ISAAA Board Chair. Africa’s experiences in biotech research and adoption will be discussed by Dr. Margaret Karembu, ISAAA AfriCenter Director. Dr. Rhodora Romero-Aldemita, ISAAA SEAsiaCenter Director, will serve as the moderator of the discussions. The webinar will be hosted by ISAAA AfriCenter.
