Food Safety Workshop in Vietnam

Dai Lai, Vinh Phuc Province, Vietnam is the site of the "Workshop on food assessment of GM crops to support environmental release and commercialization" to be held on December 5-8, 2007. Organized by the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) and the Vietnam Food Administration (VDA), the workshop aims to provide Vietnamese stakeholders with detailed understanding of food safety issues vis a vis GM crops, which will lead to effective, efficient, and science-based assessment of food safety aspects of biotech crops and their products. Experts from India, Korea, Philippines, Singapore, US and the United Kingdom are expected to share their country experiences on regulatory assessment. Sponsors of the workshop are the US Department of Agriculture/Foreign Agricultural Service, International Life Sciences Institute, and CropLife Asia Pacific.
