NRCRI to Apply Biotech on Cassava Improvement

The National Roots Crops Research Institute (NRCRI) of Nigeria has recognized the importance of agricultural biotechnology for improved cassava productivity in Nigeria. In an exchange with a group of Media Fellows of Biosciences for Farming in Africa who visited the NRCRI Institute in Sokoto recently, the Assistant Director for  Media and Publicity Kenneth Ekwe said "As Nigerian cassava goes to the international market, mass production to meet up with both local and international demands has become imperative." According to him, "The need for improved varieties that could guarantee improved production potentials is important and that is where agricultural biotechnology comes in."
