7th Pacific Rim Conference in New Delhi

The 7th Pacific Rim Conference on the Biotechnology of Bacillus thuringiensis and its Environmental Impact will be organized by the Indian Council of Agriculture Research (ICAR), Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Calcutta University and All India Crop Biotechnology Association (AICBA) from November 25- 28, 2009 at the National Agriculture Science Complex, New Delhi, India.

This conference will provide an opportunity for researchers, students, regulatory officials and others interested in biopesticides and biotechnologies for pest management to hear the latest developments and discuss their impact on environment. The topics of discussion include applied Bt science, biochemistry and physiology of Bt toxins, toxin structure and mode of action, Bt and transgenic plants, expression and regulation of toxin genes, managing resistance to Bt toxins, novel toxins, products and formulation, registration of Bt products, risk assessment and communication, Bt crop field evaluation and management and safety and social concerns, economic benefit and public acceptance. The conference will be a platform to participate and contribute to the promotion of sustainable technologies for insect pest control.
