Bangladeshi Journalists and Scientists Discuss Global Status of GM Crops

Journalists and academics met to discuss the Global Status of Commercialized Biotech/GM Crops 2007 Report at the National Press Club in Dhaka, Bangladesh. Alamgir Mohiuddin, editor of the Daily Naya Diganta, along with other senior journalists expressed support for biotech crops to cope with poverty and malnutrition. Drs. Rakh Hari Sarker and Imdadul Hoque of Dhaka University, and Drs. Lutful Hassan and E. H. Choudhury of Bangladesh Agricultural University spoke on the benefits of biotech crops that are now planted in 23 countries. The session was chaired by Dr. Khondoker Nasiruddin, International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) National Coordinator in Bangladesh.
