COGEM Releases Advice on GM Soybean 305423xDAS-44406-6

June 25, 2025

The Netherlands Commission on Genetic Modification (COGEM) released advice regarding the import and processing of GM soybean 305423xDAS-44406-6.

GM soybean 305423xDAS-44406-6, developed by Corteva Agriscience, expresses genes that confer tolerance to acetolactate synthase inhibitors, glufosinate-ammonium, 2,4-D, and glyphosate-containing herbicides. It also expresses the gm-fad2-1 gene, resulting in an altered fatty acid composition. This GM soybean was developed by crossing the soybean lines 305423 and DAS44406-6 using conventional methods. COGEM has previously advised positively on the import and processing of both parental lines, which were both authorized for placing on the market in the European Union.

With the submitted updates and recent analyses conducted for GM soybean 305423xDAS-44406-6, COGEM reported that there were no identified potential environmental risks. The GM soybean was also found to be substantially equivalent to the reference varieties. There were also no indications of unexpected interactions between the introduced traits from the parental lines. Thus, COGEM expressed that the renewal of the market authorization for the import and processing of GM soybean of 305423xDAS-44406-6 poses a negligible risk to the Dutch environment.
