Responsible Innovation: Ensuring Product Stewardship in Crop Biotech

ISAAA Inc. will hold a multi-stakeholder forum titled Responsible Innovation: Ensuring Product Stewardship in Crop Biotech in collaboration with the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Biotechnology Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA Biotech Program). This hybrid event is scheduled on October 8, 2024, from 9:30 AM to 3:00 PM at Vivere Hotel, Filinvest City, Alabang, Muntinlupa City. Registration for Zoom participants is now open to all interested participants.
This multi-stakeholder forum will provide a collective learning space and discussions on the importance of product stewardship for regulatory compliance and sustainable use of biotech products. The discussion will focus on the following themes:
- Regulatory guidelines on product stewardship and post-release monitoring
- Product stewardship programs by product developers
- Farmers practices and compliance
- Compliance issues and challenges and policy directions
The hybrid event will feature Dr. Lilia Portales, Vice Chair of the Post Approval Monitoring Group at the Bureau of Plant Industry; Dr. Leny C. Galvez, Head of the Immunology and Molecular Biology Laboratory at the Philippine Fiber Industry Development Authority; Dr. Lourdes Taylo, Career Scientist 1 at University of the Philippines Los BaƱos Institute of Plant Breeding; Ms. Jenny A. Panopio, Associate Director of Stewardship and Stakeholder Partnership at CropLife Asia; and Mr. Adriel Dave Alvarez, biotech corn farmer and member of Global Farmer Network. Mr. Panfilo de Guzman, Senior Associate Scientist at ISAAA Inc., will moderate the discussions.
