
Current State and Opportunities for Biotechnology in International Trade and Technology Transfer

The Southeast Asian Regional Center for Graduate Study and Research in Agriculture (SEARCA), in partnership with ISAAA Inc., Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice), Crop Biotechnology Center (CBC), and the United States Department of Agriculture, will hold the hybrid event Current State and Opportunities for Biotechnology in International Trade and Technology Transfer on June 30, 2023, from 1:00PM to 4:00 PM (GMT+8) at CBC, PhilRice Campus, Science City of Muñoz, Philippines. Registration is now open.
The event aims to examine the global status of biotech technology transfer and trade and how recent developments in the field support academic researchers and technology developers to transfer new biotech innovations from the laboratory to the public. Specific topics will include:
- The current state of biotechnology in the Philippines
- The science of genetic modification and genome editing
- Initiatives in sugarcane biotechnology in Indonesia
- Gene-edited fish and tomato in Japan
- Reduced browning banana in the Philippines
