Animal Biotechnology Symposium and Stakeholder Consultation on the Proposed Guidelines for GM Animals and Animal Products in the Philippines

ISAAA Inc. in partnership with the Institute of Animal Science of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB) will hold a hybrid event titled Animal Biotech Symposium and Stakeholder Consultation on June 14, 2023, from 9 AM to 12 PM (GMT+8). Registration is now open.
The event is part of the 114th anniversary celebration of the Institute of Animal Science. It aims to serve as an avenue for discussing the science of animal biotechnology and the proposed guidelines for genetically modified animals and animal products in the Philippines. Specific topics will include:
- The Science of Genetically Modified Animals (Livestock, Poultry, Aquaculture and Insects)
- Rules and Regulations for the Research and Development, Handling and Use, Transboundary Movement, Release into the Environment, and Management of Genetically Modified (GM) Animal and Animal Products Derived from the Use of Modern Biotechnology in the Philippines
The symposium will also feature biotechnology experts from the Philippines, including Dr. Maribel Zaporteza of UPLB, Mr. Reimond Corona of the National Committee on Biosafety of the Philippines, Dr. Abraham Manalo of UP Diliman, and Ms. Eufrecina Estanislao of the Bureau of Animal Industry, Head Secretariat of the Inter-Agency Technical Working Group on the Formulation of GM Animal Regulation in the Philippines.
