The book Seeds of Change: The Lives and work of Suri and Edda Sehgal documents the life stories of a talented and humble couple, Dr. Suri and Edda Sehgal who founded a visionary philanthropic organization to help the poor in rural India. Dr. Suri Sehgal is a crop scientist, seeds-man, agricultural visionary, and a pivotal figure in the development of the global hybrid-seed industry. Together with his wife Edda, they divested their highly successful seeds business in 1998 to establish philanthropic foundations in the US and in India to preserve diversity, promote conservation, and help the poor, particularly in Mewat district of Haryana, India.
The book also chronicles in the context of personal, historical and political events, the Sehgal's enduring lifelong commitment to helping others that became their family's legacy. It is the first book published by Sehgal Foundation that became a compelling and award-winning book recognized in the US with two gold Midwest Book Awards, a first place National Indie Excellence Award, two silver Ben Franklin Awards, and two Foreword Reviews magazine Indie Book of the Year Awards. It is a must read for agriculture graduates aspiring entrepreneurship in the agriculture value chain.
