
FBAE Releases Booklet on GM Crops in India

The Foundation for Biotechnology Awareness and Education (FBAE) has released its latest publication on genetically modified (GM) crops in India titled Genetically engineered crops in India: A Gordian knot needing an Alexandrian solution. The booklet highlights the hurdles impending the development of GM crops in India and the implications of suppressing new technologies in agriculture. The publication covers the following topics: a) the global performance of GE crops, b) the biosecurity regulatory regime in India, c) the impact of anti-tech activism on development of GE crops in India, and d) course correction in the implementation of policy to make the regulatory regime more purposeful and effective without being restrictive.
