USDA FAS Releases Egypt GAIN Report for 2014

The USDA Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) released the 2014 Global Agricultural Information Network (GAIN) Report for Egypt. Since March 2012, planting and commercialization of Bt corn have been put on hold in Egypt due to media campaign against the technology. According to the report, even if there is relatively advanced R&D on agri-biotechnology in the country, the technology remains misconceived or misunderstood. Thus, GAIN recommends sustainable effort in risk communication, public awareness, and outreach.
