Dupont Supports Indonesia's Rice and Corn Industry

November 9, 2007

PT DuPont will boost Indonesia's rice and corn industry, investing around US$ 3 million for hybrid rice and increasing its corn investment by US$0.5 million. Country managing director of PT DuPont Indonesia, George Santosa, is optimistic that the 2.5 million hectares in Malang, Indonesia will produce around 8,000 tons of hybrid seeds per year. The project will start next year and will produce hybrid seeds of varieties that will be marketed in Java and Sumatra. The increased investment on corn on the other hand is a response to the increasing demand for corn oil to be used in biofuel, according to the PT Dupont business manager Gumala.
