
Seminar on the Global Status Report Well-received in Hanoi

Vietnam Academy of Agriculture Science (VAAC) and the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA) co-organized the Conference on the Global Status of Commercialized Biotech/GM Crops in 2012 in March 8, 2013 at Sofitel Plaza Hotel in Hanoi, Vietnam. Around a hundred delegates from the government agencies, scientific and research institutions, the Association of Farmers and the media attended the event. Dr. Clive James, Founder and Chair of ISAAA presented the updates, implications and benefits of adopting biotech crops. Dr. Randy Hautea, ISAAA Southeast Asia Director gave an overview of what biotech corn adoption in the Philippines has achieved as well as the experiences of the farmers.
Other noted speakers include Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Tuat, Director of Vietnam Academy of Agriculture Sciences and Prof. Vo Tong Xuan.
