EFSA : GM Maize Has no Adverse Effects on Health or Environment

The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) said in a scientific opinion that maize MON810 cultivation for the 2009 growing season had no adverse effects on human and animal health or the environment.
The European Commission had earlier requested the Panel on Genetically Modified Organisms of the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA GMO Panel) to assess the monitoring report for the 2009 cultivation season of maize MON810 provided by Monsanto Europe S.A. The GMO Panel gave recommendations on how to improve future data collection and reporting noting a number of shortcomings in the methodology used for the monitoring and surveillance.
