2011 GAIN Report on Agribiotech in Japan

The USDA Foreign Agriculture Service released the Biotechnology Annual Report 2011 for Japan. The report provides the latest status of Japanese consumption, regulation, public perception, research and production of GM crops. Based on the report, there are more than 130 events that have been approved for food use. However, Suntory's biotech rose is the only biotech crop being commercially cultivated in Japan.
