Pakistani Farmers Should Adopt Modern Technologies Says University Vice Chancellor

Pakistan can gain economically by having farmers adopt new technologies and using findings of state-of-the-art research that address agricultural challenges. This was stated by University of Agriculture Vice Chancellor Iqrar Ahmed Khan. He cited the case of progressive farmers getting 70 to 80 munds (2,800 to 3,200  kg) of wheat per acre while traditional farmers obtained only around 25 munds (1,050 kg) per acre.

Faculty of Agriculture Dean Muhammad Ashfaq stressed the need to grow plants such as 'Moringa' that has  proven to be highly nutritious and a source of quality bio-oil. He disclosed that the department is also working on introducing and assessing climate resilient crops like Quinoa, Linola, and Camelina to meet food security in the country.
