Book Chapters on Communication Challenges in Crop Biotech Available Online

August 12, 2011

The book Communication Challenges and Convergence in Crop Biotechnology presents case studies of Asia and Australia that offer unique and rich examples of how countries have been able to glide through the 'drama' of crop biotechnology as they shepherd innovations from the laboratory, greenhouse trials, multi-location trials, and hopefully to farmers' fields. Published by the International Service for the Acquisition of Agri-biotech Applications (ISAAA), the first three chapters of the book are now available for downloading at http://www.isaaa.org/resources/publications/communication_challenges_
and_convergence_in_crop_biotechnology/default.asp

Drs. Mariechel Navarro and Randy Hautea, co-editors of the book, said that Asia and the Pacific are expected to spearhead the global market for crop biotechnology where four of the mega-biotech countries (those growing 50,000 hectares or more of biotech crops) are located. Aside from mega-countries Australia, China, India, and the Philippines, the rest of the chapters chronicle the experiences of Bangladesh, Malaysia, Thailand, and Vietnam as well as regional initiatives on biotech science communication.
