Argentina Approves Propagation of MIR162 Trait

The Ministry of Agriculture in Argentina has recently approved the cultivation of MIR162 trait, with brand name Agrisure Viptera™ in the country. The genetically modified corn contains genes for the control of insects such as fall armyworm, sugarcane borer and corn earworm as well as other harmful lepidopteran pests. The technology which is already approved for cultivation in the USA, Canada, and Brazil will be available to Argentine growers in the 2011/2012 season.
