Monitoring Global Commodity Prices

February 4, 2011

The price hike scare late last year has triggered interest in the regular monitoring of commodity prices. With the launch of the global wheat price tools early this year, the International Food Policy Research Institute has developed the Food Security Portal in its website.

The Portal will monitor quantitative and qualitative information related to the international maize, rice, and soybean market. The information can be used to understand past food price trends and market policies which will provide policy makers vital backgrounder to respond to the global economic situation and prepare them for changes to the global food system in the future.

The beta version can be accessed from the website and user suggestions and comments are welcome.
