Ukraine Enacts State Act on Registration of GM Feed, Feed Additives and Veterinary Preparations

October 22, 2010

The Ukrainian government through its Cabinet of Ministers has issued a resolution establishing the regulation for registration of genetically modified organisms as sources of feed, feed additives and veterinary products. Resolution No. 919 was issued on 12th October 2010 and set the State Committee for Veterinary Medicine as the competent authority responsible for the State registration procedure.

The State registration requires endorsements from the State veterinary-sanitary experts and from the State ecological bodies. Each decision for registration approval is considered separate for each GM organism and should be conducted free of charge, three months after application. The State registration is valid for five years.
