Research to Improve Verification of GMOs
The German Federal Bureau of Consumer Protection and Food Safety (BVL) and the United Kingdom's Food Standards Agency (FSA) are collaborating on a two-year research and development project known as "GMOseek". The project seeks to develop new procedures and strategies for screening genetically modified organisms (GMOs) in food and feed as well as seed. The improved process will enable simultaneous analysis of several probes based on a number of varying parameters.
Five research and analytical laboratories in Belgium, Germany and Slovenia as well as the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission are participants to the project.
