Exemption of Bt Corn Protein from Tolerance Requirement

The US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the extension of BT corn protein Vip3Aa20’s temporary exemption from the tolerance requirement for transgenic protein residues. Under the regulation, there will be no more need to establish a maximum permissible level of the BT protein when used as a plant incorporated protectant in field corn, sweet corn and popcorn. The regulation takes effect on December 5 and expires on October 31, 2009.
