
India Prepares Food Safety & Standards Rules and Regulations

The Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) has prepared Draft Food Safety & Standards Rules, 2009 and Draft Food Safety and Standards Regulations, 2009 in consultation with various stakeholders after detailed deliberations in a series of meetings in FSSAI. The draft documents are made available on FSSAI's website for comments from concerned stakeholders including the public.
Complying with its mandate to lay down science- based standards for articles of food and to regulate their manufacture, storage, distribution, sale and import, FSSAI has prepared these draft documents to ensure availability of safe and wholesome food for human consumption.
