World Food Forum 2025 Exhibition Traces Evolution of Agrifood Systems

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) brought together world leaders, policymakers, youth, scientists, farmers, and other stakeholders for the 2025 World Food Forum held at the FAO headquarters in Rome this month. With the theme, “Hand in Hand for Better Foods and a Better Future,” the forum was hailed by FAO Director General QU Dongyu as a transformative movement with purpose, driven by people, and guided by the conviction that food is the foundation of the shared future.
One of the key activities in the opening ceremony was the inauguration of the exhibition titled “From Seeds to Foods,” which featured the global evolution of agrifood systems, from the origins of agriculture to the present innovations. The highlights of the exhibition include a replica of the Svalbard Seed Vault, an aquaponic greenhouse, agricultural drones, satellite technologies, and even dogs trained to detect plant diseases.
Another key event in the forum was the celebration of World Food Day 2025 on October 16, which is also FAO's 80th anniversary. The celebration was attended by Pope Leo XIV, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, King Letsie III of Lesotho, Queen Letizia of Spain, and the President of Uruguay Yamandú Orsi Martínez.
