March 12, 2025 |
Australia's Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR) has received license application DIR 212 from the University of Adelaide to conduct a field trial of canola genetically modified for increased photosynthesis and photorespiration.
The field trial is proposed to take place between April 2025 and January 2030 on one site in the Light Regional Council in South Australia, with a maximum area of 2 hectares per year. The plants in this field trial would not be used for human food or animal feed.
The OGTR has prepared a Risk Assessment and Risk Management Plan for the application and welcomes written submissions relating to the protection of human health and safety and the environment. Submissions should reference DIR 212 and be received by April 17, 2025.
For more details about this field trial, visit the DIR 212 page on the OGTR website.
