June 10, 2015 |
A series of Focus Group Discussions (FGDs) with the theme History of Safe Use of Glyphosate-based Herbicide has been conducted on May 13 and June 1, 2015 in Royal Hotel Bogor and Bogor Agricultural University (IPB), respectively. It was aimed to provide an accurate science-based information on the glyphosate-based herbicide.
The event brought together 30 people consisted of member of Biosafety Commission of Genetically Engineered Product (BC-GEP), member of the Technical team of BC-GEP and member of pesticide committee highlighted about the safety of all labeled uses of glyphosate for human health. This data is also supported by one of the most extensive human health databases ever compiled on glyphosate. In addition to this, one important thing which was concluded in this event is a major active ingredient in RoundupĀ® brand herbicides, be interpreted with great care.
Dr. Soekisman of SEAMEO BIOTROP and a member of the pesticide committee in Indonesia was a speaker in this event. This FGD was jointly organized by the Indonesian Biotechnology Information Centre (IndoBIC), SEAMEO BIOTROP, the Indonesian Society for Agricultural Biotechnology (PBPI) and supported by CropLife Indonesia.
