ISAAA E-newsletter Marks 25 Years, Introduces Tiered Subscriptions for Next-Level Biotech Insights

Since 2001, ISAAA, Inc. has been distributing news and research highlights on crop biotechnology globally. Five years after its inception, the number of subscribers grew rapidly to almost 200,000 subscribers and over one million page views, which indicates the delivery of quality content to its target audience.
With the changes in electronic mailing opt-in dynamics in the 2000s, ISAAA boldly transitioned to a new platform and maintained an active subscriber base from over 100 countries, mostly researchers and academics in developing countries.
At present, the ISAAA Biotech Updates continues to deliver biotech-related news and discoveries to over 20,000 subscribers from 172 countries worldwide. In the latest feedback survey, 95% of the subscribers who responded said that the weekly e-newsletter has been helpful for them. Around 70% of the respondents use Biotech Updates weekly and gave positive feedback on the newsletter’s clarity and coverage.
The e-newsletter comes with the Science Speaks blog, featuring a more intensive discussion of the latest happenings in biotechnology and science communication. The Biotech Updates also has a bi-weekly release of the Gene Editing Supplement centered on research and tools, policy considerations and approvals, trends and impact, and public acceptance and engagement.
As ISAAA, Inc. celebrates its 25th year of providing quality content to thousands of subscribers, the e-newsletter is now evolving to deliver a more valuable, sustainable, and professional service. Committed to providing its readers with high-quality content, expanded biotech coverage, and features, and ensuring long-term sustainability, ISAAA, Inc. announces a new milestone with free and paid subscription plans that cater to specific stakeholders and ensure the timely delivery of premium content.
Starting August 2025, ISAAA will launch three membership tiers for Biotech Updates subscribers: regular, premium, and elite.
- Regular subscription members (free) will continue to receive weekly news and research highlights and the Science Speaks blog.
- Premium subscription members (US$5/month or US$50/year) will receive all the benefits of regular subscription membership, together with Gene Editing Supplement, and updates from the GM Approval Database and Gene-edited Animal Database.
- Elite subscription members (US$10/month or US$100/year) will receive all the benefits of premium subscription members, plus an exclusive monthly publication on agricultural biotechnology and advanced access to ISAAA Webinars registration.
