Climate change is a complex issue, but its impact is deeply felt by everyone. Young voices are rising louder than ever, demanding action and advocating for a sustainable future. At COP28 in Dubai, held in December 2023, children and youth activists stood alongside seasoned leaders, demonstrating the growing awareness and concern among the next generation.

However, despite their enthusiasm, many young people still struggle to grasp the nuances of climate change. Misconceptions abound, fueled by the complex nature of the topic and a lack of accessible learning resources. This is where innovative tools like science-based resources come in. Thus, ISAAA released a storybook titled Klima.

Klima, a name that echoes the Filipino word for "climate," is a curious and spirited young girl brimming with questions about the Earth. As the world grapples with the challenges of climate change, Klima yearns to understand the importance of caring for the Earth. Her journey begins with a magical twist. Gifted a gleaming pocket mirror by her teacher, Klima discovers its extraordinary power – a window into possible futures shaped by our choices.

A tender heart-to-heart conversation with her scientist mother ignites a spark of understanding. Klima learns about biotechnology, a powerful tool that can help find solutions to the impacts of climate change. Armed with the knowledge gleaned from her magical mirror and her mother's wisdom, Klima finds a refreshed vision of a brighter future.

This heartwarming storybook, written by Kristine Grace N. Tome of ISAAA Inc. and brought to life by the whimsical illustrations of Winnie Glendore Abarra, aims to spark curiosity and ignite a sense of agency in young readers aged 6 to 9. Through Klima's captivating journey, children will learn about our critical challenges and discover the power of collective action and scientific innovation in creating a sustainable future for our planet.
