WSU's On-Line Powdery Mildew Database

March 9, 2012

Washington State University's plant pathologist Dean Glawe has developed an Erysiphales Database to help farmers and gardeners worldwide in the control of powdery mildew. Erysiphales is the causal organism of powdery mildew, the world's most damaging disease of apples, cherries, grapes, hops, wheat, onions, strawberries, gourds, melons and many other economically important crops.

The database provides researchers and plant disease diagnosticians a tool to identify the 700 species of fungi, find information on their host plants, and provide links to online scientific references. The database is available at http://erysiphales.wsu.edu/. It has received recognition during the American Phytopathological Society meeting as a standard reference for authors working on powdery mildews.
