UK Public Attitude to Science is Positive

May 13, 2011

The United Kingdom public values science and is interested in getting to know more about it. This was a finding of Public Attitudes to Science (PAS) 2011, the fourth in a series of studies on the UK public's attitude to science, scientists, and science policy. Ipsos MORI, in association with the British Science Association conducted the study on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation, and Skills.

Majority of respondents agreed that "science makes our lives easier" and that "the benefits of science are greater than any harmful effect." They acknowledged science's role and importance in people's lives. Although there was appreciation for science, people felt that they had little information about it.
