GM Isn't Scary, According to New SOFHT Chairman

August 20, 2014

Alan Lacey, new chairman of the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology (SOFHT) said in a recent interview that genetically modified (GM) foods should not be scary, and that the benefits of GM foods outweighed the arguments against it.

"It shouldn't be scary, there's got to be an illustration of the benefits of GM to consumers. Consumers want the choice and they want the power to buy what they want to buy." He added that GM food offered consumers and food manufacturers many benefits including shelf life, taste, and nutrition.
