Innovation in Agriculture: Research & Farm Perspectives on Genome Editing

Innovation plays an important role in agriculture, especially as farmers face increasing challenges to farm sustainably amidst pressures from climate change, food security, and global affairs. Agricultural biotechnology is one tool to address these challenges. In light of the European Commission’s current policy initiative on genome editing, this event will feature a range of speakers who will share their perspectives and research on these new techniques. Presentations will discuss, “Enhancing wheat productivity through genome editing,” “Genome editing as a breeding tool towards climate resilient crops,” and what this research means for farmers in Flanders and Wallonia.
This virtual event by the USDA Foreign Agricultural Service will include speakers from VIB, the USDA, Groene Kring, and Fédération Wallonne de l’Agriculture.
