Every year since 2016, the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Biotechnology Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA Biotech) has awarded outstanding Filipino individuals through the Filipino Faces of Biotechnology. This is to recognize the exceptional contributions of Filipino researchers, scientists, farmers, fisherfolks, communicators, advocates, journalists, and students in the advancement of biotechnology in the country. This prestigious award includes individuals working in various facets of biotechnology–agriculture, health, environment, information and education, and policy.

The International Crops Research Institute for the Semi-Arid Tropics (ICRISAT) has pioneered the world's first speed breeding protocol for pigeonpea, promising to substantially cut the time required to develop new pigeonpea lines with desirable traits, and bring food to dryland communities faster.

Researchers, government employees, and students participated in the Pinoy Biotek Seminar: PCR-based detection kit for Salmonella in Meat organized by ISAAA Inc. in partnership with the UP Diliman Institute of Biology. The hybrid event, held on March 12, 2024, was part of ISAAA's Pinoy Biotek project supported by the Philippine Agriculture and Fisheries Biotech Program of the Department of Agriculture (DA Biotech).
