Impact Assessment

ABSPII’s impact assessment studies aim to establish program priorities, assess product profitability and estimate economic, environmental, health and nutritional benefits and costs of crop biotechnology products.  The principal purpose of impact assessment studies (ex-ante and ex-post) is to quantify the magnitude and distribution of benefits and costs of the adoption biotech crops relative to existing technologies.

Impact assessment will provide information directly relevant to the research and technology development priorities of the ABSPII project and place that effort in the broader context of public and private research that generates biotechnological tools and products to alleviate the food security concerns of poor people in poor countries.
