GM Apple

Delayed Ripening

Scientists are developing apples that stay fresh longer. The technique of downregulating ethylene production particularly in the fruit, has been adapted to various fruits like bananas, mangoes, pineapples, and tomatoes.

The laboratory of Dr. Abhaya Dandekar (email: amdandekar@ucdavis.edu) has been actively involved in this research.
